Day 3 of Edmonton Startup Week was a full day, packed to the brim with learning sessions, job mixers and community gathering around one of Canada’s favorite sports. Here’s a recap from the day:
EPL’s podcasting workshop
If you haven’t been to the Edmonton Public Library’s Stanley Milner branch to explore the Makerspace, you should schedule some time very soon. Holly (from EPL) and Karen Unland (of Seen & Heard) helped our Startup Week guests through the process of creating our very own podcast. It was fantastic!
Open Coffee + Tour of Startup Edmonton
We had another round of open coffee at Startup Edmonton, hosting those curious to know more about Startup Edmonton and how people can get involved in the community.
UofA Job Mixer
Students + startups + pizza = great networking and connections with the entrepreneurial community of Edmonton and young, vibrant minds. Some interesting things are sure to be brewing from the conversations at the event!
EO Lunch & Learn
The EO hosted a lunch and learn at the EPL’s Makerspace for discussion around best practices and trends in the workplace, contributing to shaping how businesses approach talent attraction and retention.
Social innovation in corporate culture
The Mosaic Centre hosted a session on social innovation in corporate culture with a panel of speakers: Bea Bohm-Meyer, Christy Benoit, Brandi Bartlett and Terry Kemp. The talk centred around why corporate culture matters in the business world and discussed what organizations are doing to create these successful cultures.
Street Hockey Tourney & Startup Drinks
Six teams competed for the champs title at the first annual street hockey tournament outside of the Mercer Building on 104 street. It was the perfect mix of people, weather and tasty treats (so many s’mores) to keep us going the whole evening. Thanks to Ice District for their support!
Inside the Mercer Tavern, Dentons hosted a Startup Drinks social where everyone was invited for drinks and snacks. The perfect formula for mingling and getting to know new friends. Thanks Dentons! It was a great evening.
Day 3 of Edmonton Startup Week was a busy but one of our favourites so far. Next on the bill: Launch Party 6 among some great sessions throughout the day on digital advertising, innovation and much more.
