Here’s part 2 of our Mega Meetup roundup:

Open Hardware

This meetup is a place where all kinds of people can share an interest in the intersection of hardware, software, media and art. When combined, these elements create a new art that blends the lines of beauty and technology. Even as computing devices have become more powerful, the underlying technology is now more and more available for everyone. With a few mouse clicks, overnight shipping, and a few hours work, you can build your own versions of ground-breaking products based on simple open platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, Galileo, Edison, and more. Even better, you can create something that has not physically existed!

ROS Edmonton

ROS stands for Robots and the Robot Operating System. No big deal! Their interest is to help develop the robotics community in Edmonton and bring together academics, industry and hobbyists. This meetup is open to all levels and does a mix of workshops and talks on robotics. They’re starting a project where members will build and program their own robots.Ask them about it at Mega Meetup Night!

Social Media Breakfast Edmonton

#SMBYEG provides education and networking by connecting the online community and IRL engagement.Social Media Breakfast Edmonton (SMBYEG) is a place where anyone, experienced or otherwise, can assemble to learn, cultivate and celebrate Edmonton’s dynamic social media community. Their discussions allow the community to support one another and help enhance existing social networks. Each month guest speakers are invited to share their experience and expertise of social media use in an educational presentation or panel discussion, followed by an opportunity to network with a community of like-minded individuals.

WPYEG

WordPress, you use it and this group likes to talk about it!Two speakers. Ten minutes each. This meetup shares short bursts of hard-earned WordPress knowledge with anyone willing to give up an hour on a Monday night. Meet other people who use WordPress, ask questions and get answers.

YEGPHP

The Edmonton PHP User Group (YEG PHP) is a group convening once a month, every fourth Thursday in central Edmonton. Organizer, Matt McDonald, and various speakers provide stimulating presentations on developments in the PHP programming language and the greater PHP community.
