Three reasons you don't want to miss the Valley Tech Talk

Edmonton Startup Week is in full swing! Just a few hours in and we've already had a LinkedIn workshop, hotdogs at Mayday Dogs, free coworking at Startup Edmonton, and the return of The MS DOS to benefit the Computer Engineering Club over with our friends at Farrow Sandwiches.

With so much happening over the next five days to celebrate and grow our startup community, you might be wondering why there is a Valley Tech Talk on the schedule? If we're focused on how Edmonton is unique and how we can support one another, why would we take the time out to learn about Silicon Valley?

Totally valid questions! And, I'm here to help. Here are my top three reasons why you should make the Valley Tech Talk part of your #yegsw17 schedule.

  1. Ameena El-Bibany and Sandi MacPherson both have first-hand experience in how to make Silicon Valley work for the benefit of your company & product. From investments to product development, networking to talent recruitment, you can ask your pressing questions before you make plans to connect.
  2.  Edmonton isn't as removed from other technology centers as you might think. Through partners like Alberta Enterprise Corporation, A100, C100, and the Canadian Digital Media Network there are many opportunities to facilitate introductions and help you navigate your first trips to the Valley. Our panelists can share how organizations can help and when you should start thinking about expanding your network into the Valley.
  3. Tonight as we gather at Jobber for a conversation around diversity & inclusion, it's a good time to recognize our all-female panel of experts and hosts. Edmonton is a collaborative community and we want to see more tech companies start and grow from our city. One way we can foster this success is to create more opportunities, for entrepreneurs of all stripes, to scale their products globally.

Tickets start at $10 and include a beer or wine on us. See you on Wednesday, October 18 at 6:45 PM at Startup Edmonton.

Kelly Hoey joined us for our last tech hub community chat and she was a huge hit! You won't want to miss our next session with special guests Ameena El-Bibany, Analyst - Rising Tide VC and Sandi MacPherson.
