September Update: Action packed month of meetups, more support for entrepreneurs, DemoCamp 37 & early-bird Launch Party tickets!

September Update

The first week of September has gone by in a flash! It's great to see many familiar faces back at Mercer Warehouse for meetups and programs (plus, lots of first-day-of-school pictures making the rounds.)

September is packed to the brim! If you're working on a new project idea, we just added a second evening of Preflight 1 starting on Thursday, September 21. Join us for two-hours once a week and spend some dedicated time moving your idea forward.

We're also ramping up for Edmonton Startup Week! Early-bird tickets for Launch Party 8 are just $15 and only available until September 15th. This year, we're on the move to Ford Hall in Rogers Place and can't wait to celebrate our city's newest technology companies with you.

Cheers!

City trucking technology company revs up Alberta plans after success in U.S. | Gordon Kent, Edmonton Journal | August 27

An Edmonton company that supplies technology that helps hundreds of thousands of American truckers highball past time-consuming highway inspection stops has finally brought its service to Alberta.

Drivewyze software sends safety scores, registration, tax compliance and other information to monitors in inspection stations when trucks are three kilometres away.

Drivers for trucking companies and carrier agents with good safety and operating records receive a green light on their phone, tablet or other electronic devices and can carry on down the road.

When there’s a problem or they’re chosen for a random check, they get a red signal and have to pull in.

Such background data has been available for years, but most systems have needed expensive equipment for sending and receiving radio signals rather than relying on cellphone networks and the internet as Drivewyze does.
