Jobber - Software Developer

We’re looking for Software Developers to join our growing Product team at our headquarters in Edmonton, AB, located in a historic building along Jasper Avenue! As one of Canada’s most dynamic startups, we’re moving at warp speed developing a product that enables mobile businesses to provide their best service. So if you’re a person who thrives in an environment that always has new challenges, and want to work for a company that supports you in doing your best work, then we want to hear from you!

The Job:

Our Product Development team is central to the success of Jobber - focused on creating software that delivers value to tens of thousands of users around the world. As a Software Developer at Jobber, you will collaborate with other members of the Product team to build an industry leading product that helps our customers and their businesses be successful. We’re looking for people who are just getting started - from new grads to beginning of their career - who want to directly contribute to the betterment of the user-experience, while continuously striving to learn and grow their own skills and knowledge.

As a Software Developer, you will...

  • Build, upgrade, and maintain the feature set of our Jobber web and mobile apps.

  • Work within an agile product management framework to develop the product - from conceptualizing new ideas, breaking down projects, and prioritizing what’s important.

  • Work with technologies like Ruby on Rails, Javascript, Postgresql, Ember...you get the idea.

  • Work with GitHub to do continuous integration with several deploys per day.

  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to figure out the best solution to problem spaces for our customers and their businesses.

In order to be successful, you will need…

  • 2+ years developing experience, whether through work experience, school projects, or side hustles.

  • A passion for solving problems with technology.

  • Experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and an understanding of software architecture.

  • Strong communication skills, able to breakdown and explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had…

  • A computing science or engineering degree, but sometimes the best education is gained through your own exploration.

What you can expect from us...

  • Competitive compensation.

  • Extended health benefits package, fully paid premiums.

  • Three weeks paid vacation.

  • An inclusive environment that believes in bettering and supporting its people.

  • Brand new Apple gear.

  • Public transportation subsidy, health & wellness programs, team outings, and lots of other stuff!
