AMii / university of ALberta data scientist 

Reporting to Amii’s Scientific Director and in consultation with the Executive Director, the Data Scientist provides technical leadership on collaborative machine-intelligence projects and facilitates knowledge transfer between industry and academia. The position facilitates Amii’s mandate to bring research excellence to Alberta businesses. They serve as point-of-contact with industry partners and have a role in defining and advancing collaborative projects.

We are an early stage social impact start-up that has developed an innovative online dispute resolution platform that helps separated and divorced families to communicate, make better decisions for their kids, and stay out of court. We’ve got a strong set of investors in our initial friends and family round. Our advisors include active and retired judges as well as leaders in mental health, collaborative law and mediation practices. We’ve solved some really challenging problems in a large, global market. We have a well-structured social impact strategy a solid business model that collectively represent a great opportunity to do well by doing good.

We’re growing our technical team and looking to bring on a designer who is interested in creating a product in a fast-paced startup environment. We are iterating through active pilots with family law courts, collaborative lawyers, and mediators. You will work directly with the founders to realize our vision as we move from pilots into product launch. This is going to be a great ride.

With thousands of citations, it is a core resource for drug information in academics and industry. 

We are hiring full database curators with a background in pharmacology. Our team is made up of talented and dedicated software engineers, scientists, and curators. Together we build tools that let researchers better understand biology and pharmacology, and companies discover, repurpose, and develop better drugs.

We are looking for someone with both the enthusiasm and abilities necessary to build a modern, dynamic single-page application that supports our vision of delivering a world class experience to our customers—more than 3 million and counting.

This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to produce a highly interactive front-end for an enterprise-level web application. Expertise in HTML, CSS and component based JavaScript are essential skills for this position. As a software engineer with expertise in data science, you will be responsible for the research, design, and development of machine learning aspects of our web publishing platform and data systems. You will investigate and model current machine learning research to develop custom content creation and machine learning algorithms, especially related to natural language processing. If you have the ability to apply current designs in the space of machine learning algorithms, that career path will be open to you.
