At this edition of the Oilsdands Tech Meetup we're exploring the Carbon Xprize.
The Carbon Xprize is a competition open to everyone (students, professionals, entrepreneurs) which is looking to get people to find new and innovative ways to turn CO2 captured from a flue gas stream into useful products. The flue gas stream will be one from either a natural gas electric generator or a coal fired electric generator plant. Basically it will evaluate all of the proposals on the basis of 1) how much CO2 in the flue gas stream converts and 2) the market size of the products or application that is made from the CO2.
We are looking to connect inventors, entrepreneurs and researchers with technical and non technical professionals currently working in Industry. The idea is to develop teams around an approach and CO2 product and guide them through the initial phases of the competition and build strong, diverse teams. Once the team(s) have completed all the necessary deliverables for the first round of the competition, the teams will present in front of investors to help fund their approach or products to participate in the Carbon Xprize competition (Round 1, Round 2:Lab scale and Round 3:pilot scale). The advantage with our event will be that we can share the registration fee ($5000) and have multiple teams submit different and unique approaches under one fee.
