 The Startup Edmonton Community Coordinator will be the first point of contact for individuals looking to engage with Startup Edmonton and the broader tech/innovation community. This role will be passionate about connecting entrepreneurs with supports that best suit their tech-enabled companies' needs. This resourceful individual will actively reach out to the community to build awareness about Startup Edmonton, share what’s happening in the Edmonton tech community and identify access to supports.  

 At Startup Edmonton we connect entrepreneurs and product builders with skills, community and space to support them as they take ideas to reality. We create collisions – between developers, designers, makers, founders and mentors – and deliver programs that transform ideas into companies.  Startup Edmonton is 14,000 square feet of program, community and co-working space at the historic Mercer Warehouse.

 We are looking for a passionate individual who is enthusiastic about building the startup community and helping entrepreneurs find success.

Innovate Edmonton’s mission within EEDC is to create the best possible environment for technology innovation and tech-enabled startup and scaleup company growth. We are focused on creating new tech businesses, helping high potential businesses scale and inspiring action to fuel growth in Edmonton’s innovation and technology business community.  We perform this work through our four entrepreneur communities: Startup Edmonton, the Edmonton Research Park, Edmonton Made and our partnership with the University of Alberta in TEC Edmonton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Getting Started Inquires 

  • First point of contact for online and in-person inquiries from entrepreneurs on Startup business supports 

  • Provide information about Startup Edmonton & other community supports

  • Develop tailored plans for individuals and companies 

  • Conduct follow up, incorporating next steps and additional opportunities 

  • Keep up to date records in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system 

 Building Community Awareness 

  • Coordinate and present info/awareness sessions on Startup Edmonton and the local tech community  

  • Organize meetings & events for entrepreneurs  

  • Follow up with attendees to identify opportunities for success

General Startup Edmonton Support 

  • Assist with set-up and take down of events & workshops 

  • Provide a positive experience for workspace members and events  

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Completion of a high school diploma. Post-secondary education is preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience

  • Passion for entrepreneurial community 

  • Ability to identify needs of customer and create/drive solutions 

  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills 

  • Experience in customer service, sales, or project management an asset

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and CRMs

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
