 The Startup Edmonton Community Coordinator will be the first point of contact for individuals looking to engage with Startup Edmonton and the broader tech/innovation community. This role will be passionate about connecting entrepreneurs with supports that best suit their tech-enabled companies' needs. This resourceful individual will actively reach out to the community to build awareness about Startup Edmonton, share what’s happening in the Edmonton tech community and identify access to supports.  

 At Startup Edmonton we connect entrepreneurs and product builders with skills, community and space to support them as they take ideas to reality. We create collisions – between developers, designers, makers, founders and mentors – and deliver programs that transform ideas into companies.  Startup Edmonton is 14,000 square feet of program, community and co-working space at the historic Mercer Warehouse.

 We are looking for a passionate individual who is enthusiastic about building the startup community and helping entrepreneurs find success.

The Program Manager will be a crucial leader and driver of growth at Startup Edmonton, responsible for supporting and coaching founders as they learn and go through the Startup Edmonton programs. Key areas of focus include helping build awareness about how Startup Edmonton supports entrepreneurs, facilitating workshops and providing additional resource options.

New Opportunity: Strategic Program Manager @ Startup Edmonton

We are looking for a passionate person who is excited about building the startup community and helping entrepreneurs find success.

The Strategic Program Manager is an important role in the expansion of Startup Edmonton programs. This role will report to and work directly with the CEO of Startup Edmonton to strategically expand and execute programs in order to increase the number of tech-enabled companies being created. Edmonton is at an exciting point in time to foster a swell of tech startups and Startup Edmonton programs play a key role in this.

Operating in a fast-past environment, this person will lead a team in the growth of programming through partnerships, new curriculum and increased program awareness. They will bring a strong ability to manage and coach team members; while being strategically focused on evolving and developing programming in order to maintain relevance and impact.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing programs, managing a budget, meeting sales targets and managing partner relationships. This leader will have at least 2 years of experience directly managing people. They will be passionate about the entrepreneurial community and making an impact on the innovation community.

It's the most exciting time of the year - Edmonton Startup Week returns, October 16 - 20, and this year we have more than 50 events for you to take in. The startup community has stepped up in a big way this year and many community partners, startups and scaling companies are hosting events in their spaces - we can't wait to see you there!

The first week of September has gone by in a flash! It's great to see many familiar faces back at Mercer Warehouse for meetups and programs (plus, lots of first-day-of-school pictures making the rounds.) 

September is packed to the brim! If you're working on a new project idea, we just added a second evening of Preflight 1 starting on Thursday, September 21. Join us for two-hours once a week and spend some dedicated time moving your idea forward. 

We're also ramping up for Edmonton Startup Week! Early-bird tickets for Launch Party 8 are just $15 and only available until September 15th. This year, we're on the move to Ford Hall in Rogers Place and can't wait to celebrate our city's newest technology companies with you.

I hope this holiday weekend finds you well! This month we have the opportunity to share milestones from some of our member and alumni companies. It's a pleasure to see our city's startup community support and champion so many founders (and their teams) as they launch and grow tech-enabled companies. 

There is no better time than now to get started on your idea or share your product with the community. Currently, we have applications open for: 

  • Preflight 1: Preflight is our year-round program dedicated to supporting your efforts to build, launch, and grow a tech-enabled product. Our next round of guided sessions starts August 22.
  • DemoCamp 37:  A startup community classic! Join us for technical show-and-tell on September 27. 
  • Launch Party 8: We're looking for amazing tech-enabled companies for our flagship Edmonton Startup Week event on October 19.

Thank you for helping us celebrate our Mercer Warehouse 5th anniversary in May! We had a wonderful time connecting with current and past member companies, Launch Party alumni, and all of the community members that help make our space in the historic Mercer Warehouse come alive at more than 285+ events a year. 

June is a great opportunity to get started on your project or product idea before all the hustle and bustle of the summer months! We have lots of workshops coming up including Startup 101: Managing Cashflow with our friends from PwCBusiness Model 101Product Toolkit, and a special introduction to design thinking at the Google Shop.

This week we celebrated our 5th anniversary in the Mercer Warehouse. Over the past five years, we’ve had the chance to connect with hundreds of entrepreneurs, see teams grow, and more students engage with local startups. It is our honour to support our city’s growing startup community.

This month we have a ton of opportunities for you to join in on the celebration! On May 30th, Kelly Hoey joins us for “Building Your Dream Network”. I met Kelly last month and was really impressed with her approach. We have limited availability; be sure to scoop up your ticket soon.

Startup Edmonton Workshop Facilitator

Preflight is an application-based series of workshops that helps founders and product builders experiment and validate a scalable product idea. We take a hands-on approach to help startup founders make the first real commitment to building a high growth tech-enabled startup.  We are looking for a workshop facilitator to lead Preflight members through weekly sessions.
