Our CEO, Tiffany-Linke-Boyko, sat down for a quick chat about what we have on the go this month and how you can harness the energy that comes with a new calendar year. New Year's resolutions can be tough to keep, and we’re here to help. Here are Tiffany’s top recommendations to help keep you motivated:

Benefits of Working Downtown! Take advantage of all it has to offer.

We know from first-hand experience that working downtown can have amazing benefits, especially for a new entrepreneur! Location is essential when starting your business, and being in proximity to resources matters!

Whether it be the downtown vibrancy that entrepreneurs thrive off of or just being close to where all the networking happens, there are so many advantages to working downtown. Luckily our Community Manager, Lauren, has you covered! She sat down on Facebook Live and went over all the benefits of basing your business out of downtown Edmonton.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be in a coworking space? Ever asked yourself what the pros are of being surrounded by other entrepreneurs when you have some much to do on your own? Well, we have you covered!

Working out of a space like Startup Edmonton can have a tonne of perks, and we think it’s a fantastic way to help grow your business and stay connected. Whether it be benefits like opportunities to meet and network with other entrepreneurs, or access to coffee and printing, there are loads of advantages that come with working out of a shared space without sacrificing dedicated, focused work time to move your product forward. Warren sat down on Facebook Live and shared some his thoughts and our members’ thoughts on coworking!

April Update: DemoCamp Alberta, Business Model 101, and new sessions of Preflight

April Update: DemoCamp Alberta, Business Model 101, and new sessions of Preflight

April is jam-packed with incredible opportunities for you to get to work on your project idea at a workshop, connect with new people at meetups, attend special events like AccelerateAB, and prepare to showcase your progress at DemoCamp Alberta.

We had a blast last month at DevCon 2018 spending the day with more than 250 technical students. Student programs don't wrap-up at the end of the semester - we have Work @ Startup Wednesdays all year-round. Be sure to check out our free Student Membership for yourself or the students in your life.

If you're looking for support as you start and grow your tech company, we're open for business. We have programs, mentorship options, and flexible space options and the entire team is available to chat more with you. Reach out anytime!

Take care & wishing for warm weather!

August Update: Shared milestones, Preflight 1 - applications open, DemoCamp 37, and more job postings!

I hope this holiday weekend finds you well! This month we have the opportunity to share milestones from some of our member and alumni companies. It's a pleasure to see our city's startup community support and champion so many founders (and their teams) as they launch and grow tech-enabled companies.

There is no better time than now to get started on your idea or share your product with the community. Currently, we have applications open for:

  • Preflight 1: Preflight is our year-round program dedicated to supporting your efforts to build, launch, and grow a tech-enabled product. Our next round of guided sessions starts August 22.
  • DemoCamp 37:  A startup community classic! Join us for technical show-and-tell on September 27.
  • Launch Party 8: We're looking for amazing tech-enabled companies for our flagship Edmonton Startup Week event on October 19.
