June Update

June Update

Thank you for helping us celebrate our Mercer Warehouse 5th anniversary in May! We had a wonderful time connecting with current and past member companies, Launch Party alumni, and all of the community members that help make our space in the historic Mercer Warehouse come alive at more than 285+ events a year.

June is a great opportunity to get started on your project or product idea before all the hustle and bustle of the summer months! We have lots of workshops coming up including Startup 101: Managing Cashflow with our friends from PwCBusiness Model 101Product Toolkit, and a special introduction to design thinking at the Google Shop.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

May Update

This week we celebrated our 5th anniversary in the Mercer Warehouse. Over the past five years, weโ€™ve had the chance to connect with hundreds of entrepreneurs, see teams grow, and more students engage with local startups. It is our honour to support our cityโ€™s growing startup community.

This month we have a ton of opportunities for you to join in on the celebration! On May 30th, Kelly Hoey joins us for โ€œBuilding Your Dream Networkโ€. I met Kelly last month and was really impressed with her approach. We have limited availability; be sure to scoop up your ticket soon.

Thank you for your continued support of our work and the amazing efforts of our member companies.

On Saturday, March 25th we welcomed more than 150 high school and post-secondary students to our third annual Student Developer Conference. It was an incredible day of keynotes, workshops, AMA sessions, and a job mixer with some of our city's fastest growing companies.

Three pieces of advice came through loud & clear from our speakers:

March Update: Student Developer Conference, Accelerate AB and Work at Startup Edmonton

March Update: Student Developer Conference, Accelerate AB and Work at Startup Edmonton

As we get ready to shift into spring (and for many of the members, grudgingly move our clocks forward), this March the Startup Edmonton team is focused on connecting our city's talented technical students with hiring startups and scaling companies. Over the past three months, we've had dozens of activities on campuses and at our space where students can hear from people working in companies, get to know friendly faces, and start making concrete plans for their education and post-graduation life.

We'd also like to take this moment to say goodbye to our amazing Front Desk Concierge and friend, David Ton-Lai. David joined the team just in time for Edmonton Startup Week 2015 and is leaving us to explore Japan for the next year! We wish him the very best & can't wait to hear about his adventures.

A friendly reminder that Launch Party 7 applications are due by September 17! We're looking to support technology companies with new products in market in the past 12 months.
