Showbie - Front End Developer

What's Showbie?

Used by millions of teachers and students worldwide, Showbie is an amazingly fast, easy, and effective platform for assignments and feedback in K-12 classrooms.

Our Team

Our small team is dedicated to improving the way technology can be used in the classroom. We build tools that can be put to use by any teacher, from early adopters to die-hard photocopy addicts. Help us make a big impact for educators in more than 135 countries worldwide!

The Role

As front-end developer, you'll be working closely with your front-end teammates, our service/API team, designers, and product managers to make our app even more useful and user-friendly for teachers and students. The browser-based version of Showbie is an ambitious single-page javascript app, so you'll have a chance to tackle problems using the latest technologies and techniques, including component-based app architecture, live updates over web sockets, interactive annotations via canvas, and a fully responsive and highly refined UI.

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript in a single-page application (we use Ember and Ember CLI)

  • Sass preprocessor
  • Git and GitHub workflow
  • Test-driven development and continuous integration
  • Cross-browser and cross-device testing and best practices

And more generally:

  • Solid understanding of web standards and the ability to mentor others
  • Strong attention to detail and desire to create something amazing
  • Previous work samples demonstrating proficiency in building highly interactive web applications
  • Excited about hearing from our users and improving the product based on that feedback
  • Be comfortable in a team environment but also able to be an independent worker
  • 4+ years of related work experience

  • We give you the autonomy to make decisions and execute on them
  • Competitive salary
  • Health benefits
  • Three weeks vacation plus office closure between Christmas and New Year's Day
  • Team events
  • Ping pong
  • Office snacks and espresso
  • Relaxed company culture (when we’re at work we’re excited and focused on building a great product, we also know that going home at 5 and not working weekends makes us even more excited to come to work and do great things)
