CoParenter - Senior Software Engineer

We are an early stage social impact start-up that has developed an innovative intelligent dispute resolution platform that helps separated and divorced families to communicate, make better decisions for their kids, and stay out of court. We’re growing our team and looking to bring on people who are interested in creating a product in a fast-paced startup environment. You will work directly with the founders to realize our vision as we move from pilots into product launch. This is going to be a great ride.

Summary/Objective
This senior-level position is responsible for developing functionality for coParenter web and mobile applications. The Senior Software Engineer will work under the direct supervision of our Chief Technology Officer and alongside other developers and will primarily focus on creating and refining software that aligns with coParenter’s objectives and product vision.

We’ve built a solid engineering team in Edmonton and are looking for someone to bring use their robust experience in software engineering to accelerate development, solve problems, and help support our end users.

Essential Functions

  • Writing web and mobile application code in an Agile environment.

  • Provide senior-level technical knowledge and mentorship for other developers.

  • Participate in regular code reviews.

  • Contribute to design meetings.

  • May participate in community outreach and product promotion when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • 10 + years of experience with software development.

  • 3+ years of cloud development experience. Google Cloud experience preferred but not necessary.

  • High proficiency with node.js and Python.

  • Experience in any of the following is a strong asset but not required: Elasticsearch, Tensorflow, Cloud Functions, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

  • Excellent problem solving skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Travel
This position does not require regular travel. However, we have an annual summit at our headquarters in Los Angeles (or someplace warmer than Edmonton), so candidates should be able to travel internationally and have a valid passport.
