SAM - Social Intelligence Analyst

The Social Intelligence Analyst position will be based in our Edmonton office where our development and data science teams sit. In proper startup fashion, this role will start as an analyst position with a lot of growth potential - room to make your mark within the company and beyond as you work to develop this critical component of SAM.

About You: You are interested in breaking news and current affairs and are aware of the value of social media newsgathering, fact finding and verification. You are well organized and know how to detail, define and execute processes. You are someone who takes ownership and pride in the work you do, bringing solutions when problems occur and confidently deciding whether to report or correct them independently (knowing the difference is key). Lastly, you are someone who can multitask well in order to track multiple events and work in a busy breaking news environment.

Qualifications: A degree in journalism, political science, global affairs, or a social science. Direct experience in social media, journalism, newsgathering or data analysis is require.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work very closely with the SAM development, data science, sales, and marketing teams as well as SAM clients to oversee the high level of data quality our system produces. You will be directly responsible for the quality of data our system uses (from social sources, geo databases, official government sources and more), and for the quality of every data point we send (alerts, content, output). You will also work closely with our data science team to define verification, detection and trend models.

There will be people management opportunities available within the role, alongside product roadmap involvement or other relevant personal projects potential.

Salary: $40,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
