• What we'll do
For this workshop, we embrace the power of being able to manipulate a webpage. jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library used on the web today, with over 60% of the top 10,000 websites in the world using it. jQuery is a very powerful language for manipulating the contents of a webpage, allowing pieces to be added, removed, or animated with very little code. Additionally, jQuery will work on all browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

In this workshop, you will learn about the fundamentals of jQuery - but it will be fun! Join us to learn how to speak to your webpage and tell it to do things for you. At the workshop, we will be creating a small web application to keep track of an event's attendance.

At the end of the workshop, the following code will make perfect sense to you:
$(function() {

The Ladies Learning Code Introduction to jQuery workshop is designed to be a hands-on experience. During the session, you will learn:

- Fundamental information about jQuery as a JavaScript framework
- How to add and remove elements from a webpage
- How to build plugins and use them to retrieve and display hidden data on a page
- How to animate elements of your page, including fading in and out what resources are available if you’d like to continue learning at home (and we think you will)

Our Ladies Learning Code workshops offer female-identified and male-identified, trans, and non-binary adults hands-on, project-based learning experiences that are designed to give beginners the skills and confidence they need to become digital creators.
